What is Holistically Well?

Who are we?

Holistically Well is a wellness brand dedicated to providing our customers with knowledge and tools designed to improve their physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. We believe that a holistic approach to wellness is essential, and we strive to offer products and services that support this philosophy.

What is Holistic Health?

Holistic health is an approach to wellness that incorporates several components to optimal health and wellbeing: mental, physical, emotional, spiritual, and social. At Holistically Well, we simply refer to it as mind, body, and soul.

  1. Mind (mental and emotional wellbeing)

  2. Body (physical and social wellbeing)

  3. Soul (spiritual wellbeing)

Why is this important?

Health and wellbeing are so much more than just physical health as we know it. All elements of holistic health are interconnected and affect each other, so for true optimal health you must consider all facets. Wellness is about the choices you make every day, in every aspect. Living a holistic lifestyle will help shift to preventing disease and illness instead of solving for.

How do we get there?

MIND

It starts with the mind. You can be the healthiest person, eat the right foods and work out. But until you control your mind, you cannot reach your highest potential. The mind is our most powerful tool. We must learn to control it so that it does not control us. Our mind affects everything we do from daily choices and activities to our emotions, and things like stress and anxiety. What we feed our mind matters. We need to learn to control the mind, but that is not easy and does not happen overnight. There are many tools and practices you can implement to help get you there.

A quick evaluation of what you are feeding your mind, ask yourself:

How is your mental health?

Do you have meditation practice?

What is your support system? Who are you spending time with?

What is your self-care routine?

What does your self-talk sound like?

Do you journal?

Do you talk to someone? Therapy?

How often and well do you sleep?

How do you handle your emotions?

How often do you spend time outside?

What books, news, podcasts, music, social media, do you consume?

What are you doing to get out of your head and into the present moment?

Implementing practices to help control your mind is step 1 to optimal health. Meditation, breathwork, journaling, therapy, nature walks, listening to encouraging podcasts, and reading books that align with positivity and the mind are just a handful of things you can and should be doing for your mental health.

BODY

The next step is taking care of our body. Our body is the vessel for our soul in this lifetime. What we feed and put into our bodies, as well as how we treat and take care of our bodies matter.

Ask yourself:

How is your overall physical health?

What is your relationship with food?

Are you eating clean?

Do you have any food allergies?

DO you know your body type, blood type, hormonal type?

How is your gut health?

Do you have a consistent fitness routine?

How active are you on a daily/weekly basis?

What substances and medications are you consuming?

How is your skin?

How often are you sick?

We must first understand our body, our body types, blood types, hormone types, and how our bodies react to different foods. This directly affects what we should be eating and how we should be caring for our bodies. Most physical health starts in our gut. Ensuring we are fueling our body properly, and with balance, caring for our gut, and getting the right amount of exercise will help us reach optimal health.

SOUL

The final step in holistic health is caring for your soul. Spirituality is having a belief in something bigger than the self. It’s the idea that we are one small piece of the larger universe, yet we are all connected. Everything is energy and understanding this and how it affect each of us is so important to optimizing our health.

Ask yourself:

Do you have a spiritual practice?

What is your connection to spirit, source, the universe, God?

How do you stay grounded?

What is your belief about death/life?

How do you feel when you are alone?

Do you know your life purpose?

Do you feel connected to nature? Earth? The moon?

Do you want the world to be a better place?

Do you belong to a charity or give back?

Not all spiritual practices look the same, and that is okay. Everyone will have their own set of beliefs, practices, and be on their own path. Spirituality is not about judgement, but instead allows people to believe what they want and practice what works for them in the way they are able to. There are many ways to experience spirituality. Religion, prayer, serving the community, yoga, meditation and breathwork, new age spirituality, and time in nature are just a handful. Having a spiritual practice allows us to find meaning and purpose, to have a sense of community, to have hope and something bigger to believe in, and to be able to cope with our feelings. This is crucial in optimal holistic health.
